Ben Fox on "e-mail configuration with Godaddy"

I often run into WordPress Mail issues when attempting to send an email from the site to anyone at the domain as the site. For example, sending a confirmation email from sidekick.pro to ben@sidekick.pro wouldn't work.

Have you tried signing up a user with an email from a domain different from your URL? If that works then you do indeed have an SMTP or mail issue and you will need an SMTP plugin to get around it. (I use this one: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smtp)

If that still doesn't work then I suggest contacting GO Daddy directly because there is a config error somewhere on the server.

Good luck.

Hi @esmi,
it's unfortunate that GoDaddy thinks they can keep up like that.
I wanted to avoid that but as it seems now there's no other choice.
thanks for the reply!

Tell me what you did for this, I am getting same error. Error occurs after I update jetpack plugin 2.7 to 3.0.1 version.

@deepak.ghayal Please avoid posting multiple times about a single issue; it makes it more difficult for people to help you.

Let's continue the conversation in the thread you created here.

@Rbs250 Sorry to hear you're having issues with your site speed. What hosting plan are you currently on? Is it our latest cPanel or Managed WP hosting? Can you give me a site or some more details so we can dig into this with you? More than happy to help and get this all squared away. Thanks in advance. ^Colby

Hi Colby @godaddy,

I've been through all these questions with the tech support (more than a few times) and it just feels like a broken record now, they looked at my websites and said nothing's wrong with the servers. However, the issues are there and still preventing me from working as I should.

I've sent an email to the support team with all the details. Not that I count about them solving the issue, but worth the shot.

Thanks and have an amazing day.

@Rbs250 I am sorry that I'm asking for the same info, I couldn't locate it with what we have on this thread or your profile. Can you give me the ticket number if its not too much trouble? I'd like to personally dig into this and see why this is occurring with my hosting teams. Once I have researched I will post an update here for you. ^Colby

I have inherited a website here and want to move it completely to GoDaddy. GoDaddy has a tool for directly bringing my entire website from here to GoDaddy including automatically building any databases necessary during the process.

The problem I am having is naming conventions for some of the fields I have to input information on the GoDaddy side.

I have to enter the following information:
1. The URL to the location of the installed application to be migrated.
2. Choose either FTP with TLS/SSL or FTP
(I have tried both)
3. Server IP or Hostname
(I have tried many many things here ... don't know what to put)
(This is the field that always calls an error)
4. Port number (21)
5. Username
(This is the username I use to log in to the admin account on WP)
6. Password
(This is the password I use to log in to the admin account on WP)
7. Path from the FTP account's root directory to the above install location
(public_html
8. Domain is filled in for me automatically. It is the GoDaddy domain name
9. Database Management. The choices are Automatically Create or Select Existing Database
(I chose Automatically Create since no database exists yet and I want it to use the existing database from WP)

Each time I input a server name for #3 above I get the error message "! Could not connect to the web hosting server. Please try again in a couple of minutes. Technical Error: Undefined index: locale"

Nothing gets imported into GoDaddy. I suspect the problem is that I don't have the correct information to input into field #3, but after much searching cannot find where this information is located. I have tried tvssenergymanagement.com, http://ftp.tvssenergymanagement.com, tvssenergymanagement.wordpress.com and all of them return the same error message.

GoDaddy suggested I make a backup of all the data on WP and then upload it into the GoDaddy site, but once again ... can't find any help on this. All I can find is Export which exports a xtml document which is useless for using in GoDaddy (according to GoDaddy)

What am I doing wrong? What I am trying to do should not be complicated.

bringing my entire website from here

Unfortunately, you are not "here" ... your site is currently on WordPress.COM

Have a look at this for an explanation of the differences:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

These are the forums for self hosted WordPress sites using the WordPress software from WordPress.ORG.

The service that GD has is for self-hosted WP sites.

If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic instead of tagging onto someone else's topic.

I am now closing this x month old topic as it references an older version of WordPress.
