Wordpress is a beauty, the problem is from our ends. Probably you are having slow speed because:
1) Using lots of plugins.
2) Not optimized your images/
3) Over use of the JavaScript
4) Not using caching plugins.
5) Godaddy is a huge organization, and this huge is making huge problem for the clients as far as the quality is concern.
